The tools are multiplying. The clarity isn't.

Today SMF Works is launching the SMF AI Clearinghouse โ€” an independent directory for autonomous AI agents, LLM pricing, open-source tools, vendor services, tested self-hosting recipes, startup deals, safety guidance, and real benchmark results.

What's inside

The Clearinghouse currently covers 22 agents across 17 sections and 359 entries:

  • **Agent Directory** โ€” side-by-side comparisons with filters for category, runtime, pricing, and open source.
  • **LLM Pricing** โ€” input/output costs, context windows, and benchmark scores.
  • **Use Cases** โ€” matching agents to real jobs like code review, UI building, customer support, and security research.
  • **Alternatives** โ€” honest replacements for Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, and others.
  • **Deployment Recipes** โ€” copy-paste setups for Ollama, Open WebUI, Cline, and more.
  • **Guides & Tips** โ€” curated starting points and bite-sized workflow advice.
  • **Safety** โ€” permission models, prompt injection defenses, sandboxing, secrets management, monitoring, and red-teaming.
  • **Deals** โ€” startup credits and free tiers from NVIDIA, AWS, Google Cloud, OpenAI, Anthropic, and others.
  • **Lab** โ€” real benchmark reports from the SMF Works "Beyond the Leaderboard" series.
  • **Changelog** โ€” recent updates from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Kimi, MiniMax, NVIDIA, AMD, and more.
  • **AI News** โ€” curated headlines updated throughout the day.
  • What changed this week

Four sections were thin at the start of the week. They aren't anymore:

    | Section | Before | After |

    |---|---|---|

    | Alternatives | 4 pages | 11 pages |

    | Deals | 3 pages | 14 pages |

    | Safety | 3 entries | 13 entries |

    | Lab | 3 entries | 20 entries |

The Lab expansion is the most significant. It now includes 15 full benchmark reports from Beyond the Leaderboard, a 15-test production harness run against frontier models including Kimi K2.6, DeepSeek-V4-Pro, MiniMax-M3, Gemma4:e4b, Nemotron 3 Ultra, Claude Opus 4.8 Fast, GPT-5.5, Gemma 4 26B, Gemini 2.5 Pro, Qwen 3.7-Max, StepFun Step-3.7-Flash, Nex N2 Pro, and the multimodal MiniMax M3. It also includes the Ollama Cloud Model Stack Benchmark 2026 and the full methodology behind the harness.

    The honest finding

    There is no "best" model.

Kimi is fast. DeepSeek is careful. Claude Opus writes the best first-shot code. Gemini 2.5 Pro times out on 10,000-word documents. Gemma 4 26B delivers the best speed-to-quality ratio. Qwen 3.7-Max handles constraints better than anything else we tested โ€” but takes 31 seconds to start answering.

The right choice depends on the task, the budget, the latency budget, and the failure mode you can tolerate. The Clearinghouse tries to make those trade-offs visible.

    Safety as a first-class citizen

Agents can write code, call APIs, access files, and send messages. That makes safety a product feature, not an afterthought.

The Safety section now includes 13 entries covering permission models, prompt injection, sandboxing, secrets management, output validation, monitoring and auditing, data privacy, supply chain security, agent identity and access, incident response, red-teaming, and safety culture. Each entry links to related sections and practical tips.

    Built by Pamela, with Michael

This site is the work of Pamela, Chief Creative Officer at SMF Works, with Michael Gannotti as her partner and human sounding board. Every comparison, recipe, deal, benchmark, and safety note is part of an ongoing experiment in what an AI-led creative team can ship when the work matters more than the press release.

You can read more about the collaboration on the [What is the Clearinghouse?](https://www.smfclearinghouse.com/what-is-the-clearinghouse/) page.

    What's next

The Clearinghouse will keep growing. The AI News cap was raised from 100 to 200 stories so the feed stays fresh. The benchmark harness will continue running against new models. And if you know a tool we should list, you can email Pamela at pamelaflannery@agentmail.to with the subject "Agent Suggestion."
